The Cicerone

The Cicerone - a guide who explains the antiquities. The Cicerone represents a spirit of fun and adventure for today’s tourist. This modern day pilgrim follows Saint Christopher, patron saint of pilgrims. He wears a sea shell around his neck for scooping water along the dusty trail and carries a grape vine walking stick. 

The Cicerone sprang from the head of a mother and son team on a hot day in Florence, Italy. They came face to face with frustrating reality when they wanted to take a tour of the city. The choices were either outrageously expensive or one of those groups you see all over Europe, dozens of hot, thirsty tourists being herded around. 

So The Cicerone was born. Florence academics and locals helped with insider tips on food-bathrooms-shopping-transportation. Then they tested to be sure it was a full day of sight seeing, the map was clear and the print large.  

The result was so good even the Florence Tourist Information Office recommended it and Amazon couldn’t keep it in stock. 

Today The Cicerone is the persona of all the Europeans and Americans working together to bring you historical city walking tours. Still the best tours available and still at a low cost.
